Lite$savers – mobile LED lighting

What a great idea.

So many of us want to get those energy saving lights, we get to the supermarket or hadware store and chicken out. The choice between a thirty dollar bulb and a thirty cent one can be very tough. As the technology changes we are seeing more and more of these efficient products entering the market. That’s where light Savers comes in, they are all about getting these lights into your house, cheaper than you can go out and buy them yourslef. With a promise of paying for themselves in power savings in just two years and a life of thirty, it’s a no-brainer.
My Grandmother struggles to change lights and I can’t always be there when she needs them so I will be calling these guys in to change them for her.

It was my job to brand up their business, create a tri-fold, business cards and a website.

Sonic Surf Craft

Sonic is New Zealand’s premiere Surf Life Saving paddle board and surf ski manufacturer. A great family owned grass roots company with a young and energetic staff that live and breath the beach lifestyle.

This website was a rebuild for these guys, they had gone down the path of getting a website build previously, and hit every pot hole along the the way. Knowing how unhappy they were with their previous developer, I made every effort I could to make this as painless and smooth for them as possible. I think we got there despite a little drama with a less than satisfactory email setup from their previous company. I was also gob-smacked to see the rip off billing from their previous web company, charging them an outrageous $1000+ per year for domain and hosting (a charge I pass on without markup at less than $100 per year). I sometimes wonder how some people can sleep at night!

Using zen cart for their online ordering means they have a scalable e-commerce setup and full control over their existence. I’m confident this site will push their image and make life easer for them and their customers.

Bay OK busselton

Bay OK is all about preserving the natural ecology of the Busselton catchment. Sounds simple but there are all sorts of complex issues facing this area and these guys are there to protect it.
My job was to design a build a scalable website for Bay OK with drop down menus and a dynamic newsletter template and sign up. The design and build was smooth as silk, with very few revisions or problems. Perhaps I’m getting into my groove! Check out the site Bay OK.

Undersea pipelines need stability, that ocean isn’t going to sit there calmly just so your expensive pipes don’t break.
Who do you call to lay an undersea grout bag or put down a slab?… Under the ocean?! Subcon of course.
The most important thing for most niche industries like this, being found via SEO and looking as professional as they are.

With a supplied logo and a few details we embarked on a branding exercise, starting with the business cards, moving to their website and finally with a tri-fold. Visit Subcon.com.au.

Panolec simulcaster

An interesting little gadget this one.

Panolec Simulcaster Radio Packaging

If you have ever listened to radio sportscasters doing Simulcasts, they are great at creating a mental image of what is happening, knowing their audience is in the dark as to the visuals. The same can not always be said for the wacky commentators on TV, especially if you don’t like to be sold anything. An old friend of mine likes to listen to non-commercial radio broadcasts and watch sports on Television. His major hassle has always been that thanks to the delays of the two broadcasts, the action is not in sync with the commentary. He discovered this neat little gizmo in the US that does just that (it adds an adjustable delay to the broadcast) but was unable to buy one here. Taking the ball and running with it (little sports metaphor there for ya) he decided to bring them to Australia and NZ and start a company selling these Simulcaster Radios. He needed packaging, logos, instruction booklets and a flyer. Naturally, I was all too happy to help.

My free wordpress theme is done!

It’s late.
I started at 1pm, thinking I’d do a little work on my theme, lit the fire, turned up the music and wandered into the forest known as coding. Finally I emerge, smiling, scratched and feeling like I just came to the surface of a coal mine for the first time in weeks.

There is probably lots of little tweaks to do yet, I doubt I have it fully covered but I hope people will get back to me if there are any major hassles.

WordPress theme for free, just for you!

There are a few things I want to explore with WordPress.

Starting from absolute scratch.
Dates in rounded cubes to the right.
Free WordPress theme to give back a little to the community.
Multuple themes within a single install.

The best way to do that I think it to create a fairly clean and simple theme that people may want to use on their own projects (and recieve a little SEO in return).

So here it is; ‘tranquil refelctions’. It will be a work in progress and when the theme is ready to go, I’ll post again with links and stuff.
